In response to the unrelenting human suffering stemming from Afghanistan’s protracted civil war, the Narcotic Control and Rehabilitation of Afghanistan was founded in 1993. This pivotal initiative aimed to address the multifaceted challenges facing Afghan communities, particularly those afflicted by conflict, displacement, and the adverse impacts of narcotics. Over the years, the organization underwent significant transformations, reflective of its evolving scope and mission. Renamed the National Consultancy and Relief Association in 2005, and later re-branded as the New Consultancy and Relief Organization (NCRO) in 2012.
